New novel after four years

At the end of March the third novel of Nico de Beer will be published in The Netherlands. The final link, as it might be called in English, is set in the world the author knows best, namely that of education.

Written from the perspective of a teacher, the book gives some insight into the contempary lifestyle of young people and the sort of problems they may be facing.

It took De Beer 18 months to write the book and in it he shares personal experiences of his work as a teacher.

Luzern

Lake Luzern in Switzerland is one of those ideal places to ease away the day and reflect on life, or an upcoming novel, in the absolute quiet of untouched nature. The boats plying the routes from one sleeping town to the next are comfortable, especially in the morning when there are only few passengers. The weather can differ dramatically; from sweltering hot to chilly when the early fog is still evaporating. Overlooking the lake with a writing pad on your lap, coming up with fragments of dialogue for The Inner Circle, the hesitant novel-to-be. That was the first week of the summer holidays for me. It is enjoyable being an your own once in a while. Luzern can be recommended to anyone who is in need of some time off.
Writing is trusting that you can still perform this undefined trick of transforming an empty page into a readable text. If you can envision your main character strolling on the deck, I guess, you are making a good start.
